Photograph of the 'Avicenna' painting in the "Great Moments in Pharmacy" series. This painting was one of the most difficult for Thom, and months of research was conducted to ensure that each detail was accurate. The painting's subject, Ibn Sina, was a Persian pharmacist, poet, physician, and philosopher. Before his death in 1037 A.D., Sina (known as Avicenna in the Western world) contributed greatly to science. The painting was later exhibited at the University of Arizona Student Union, May 14- May 31
